The layering technique with conifers is a little different than the one used with deciduous tree.
You should not remove the bark, but you should wire the branch to the trunk of the trees until it embeds. Then, with a small hammer, you should knock it easily, until some superficial wounds appear in the bark. This way, you will stimulate the developing and growth of new roots. A roots hormone should be applied over the wire.
Now, you should tie the Sphagnum moss with some thread, not wire. Next, use a thin wire web, like the one used with deciduous trees, and fill it with Bonsai soil.
It takes 1-2 years at least for the new roots to grow. When they are strong enough to feed the tree, the Bonsai tree can be cut and planted in a new Bonsai pot.
