It is very important for a Bonsai tree to be put in s pot where it will receive enough light as necessary, depending on the type of tree. Keep in mind that, first of all, a Bonsai tree is a work-of-art so you should give it a place where it can be seen and admired.
You can use stone or wood tables, not higher than 40cm, usually, since the optimum total height for a Bonsai tree is somewhere between 3.2-4.6feet/100-140cm. One more important fact is this: people don’t always act as they should, so protect your Bonsai from thieves, if you keep them outside, in your garden.
Another advantage when putting the Bonsai on a higher ground is the fact that the sun light can reach the lower branches as well, this making the tree grow a lot more symmetrical. More, the plant is protected from any pets you might have or parasites like snails, ants or rodents. Still, if you decide to keep the Bonsai trees on ground level, clear the spot of any grass or weeds, because they might shadow the lower branches of the Bonsai tree, branches which will consequently dry out and die.
Native Bonsai do not need to be kept inside, usually, more than one week, in the April-September period. In the winter, the Bonsai trees need rest because they are normal trees, that live in the winter-summer cycle and they are strong and resistant. If you keep a Bonsai tree inside in the winter, they will break their normal cycle and may suffer injuries that may cause their death.
In Japan, the Bonsai trees have their own place, the so-called Tokonoma.
If you keep the Bonsai inside, even for a little while, you should remember not to water it so often. This is because the humidity reduction coefficient is a lot lower inside, the wind doesn’t blow and the solar radiation is as low as possible. You can even skip watering for 3-4 days sometimes. Well, when you do water them, don’t water them inside. Take them outside, water them with a water hose, let them dry a little and take them back. The smaller and middle sized Bonsai trees may be out in a water pot and let them dry out so that the wooden furniture should not be affected.
